YAMAHA BBP35 VSB [BB series top-of-the-line model]
The body is made of alder, which features a warm midrange, and has a three-ply alder/maple/alder structure with Yamaha’s unique I.R.A. treatment. The neck joint uses a miter bolting neck joint to create a powerful sound that is integrated with the body. It is equipped with a convertible type bridge that can be selected according to preference. A “Made in Japan” flagship model that meets the high demands of players.
Description
Alder/Maple/Alder 3-ply body construction
The new BB series has an alder/maple/alder 3-ply body structure. The hard maple wood sandwiched between the alder on both sides enriches the midrange and realizes a bodily sound that blends in more with the band’s sound. In addition, the use of maple as the body material makes it possible to transmit sound directly connected to the maple wood of the neck, reducing the loss of sound between the body and the neck and reliably receiving string vibrations.
I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration)
I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) is a technology that promotes the vibration of an instrument by applying appropriate vibration to the instrument after it is completed, thereby reducing the stress of paint, adhesives, etc. inherent in the instrument immediately after completion. Players know how important it is to “learn” an instrument. It is said that “the sound improves” by playing. The reason for this is that the stress that occurs between the neck and the fingerboard, between the wood and the coating film, and between the material and the hardware becomes familiar and resonates as one by playing. By applying the I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) treatment, the bass is close to the plucked state, bringing out the ideal body sound.
Mitre bolting for firm adhesion
to the neck In addition to the four screws that fix the neck vertically from the back of the body, the miter bolting system is adopted, which adds two screws that fix the neck end at a 45-degree angle from the back of the body. The body and neck are firmly adhered to each other, creating a strong sound in which the body and neck are united. There is less energy loss in string vibration than in ordinary bolt-on joints, resulting in rich sustain and overwhelming body sound.
Newly developed pickup YGD Custom V7 Equipped with
a newly developed pickup. Combined with the alder/maple/alder body structure, it achieves a crisp sound that is not buried in the band. Installed in 700 grade and Pro grade.
Convertible Type Bridge & Saddle
The 700 grade and Pro grade use a “string-through body” structure that passes strings from the back of the body. Compared to the general method of passing the strings vertically from the back of the body, by passing the strings at a 45-degree angle, the energy of the string vibration is transmitted to the body without loss. In the general back-threading method, in which the strings are passed from directly under the saddle, it is difficult to transmit the string vibration efficiently and reliably due to large string vibration losses at the plate and saddle, but by cutting the bottom of the body at an angle and passing the strings at a 45-degree angle, the stress on the strings at the saddle is reduced. The difference in the contact points of the semicircular saddle responds to a variety of expressions for the player, from crisp and clear sound to warm sound. The brass saddle of the vintage Plus bridge provides deep bass, while the steel plate provides a bright sound. Metal parts such as springs and screws are made of stainless steel to resist rust and corrosion.
