The Custom 24-08 retains the core specifications of the original Custom 24, PRS’s flagship model since 1985, while featuring the latest TCI pickups and an EQ mini-toggle switch for enhanced sonic versatility. This Limited Edition model differs from the regular model in special features, including a semi-hollow construction, ziricote fingerboard and headstock veneer, and old-school bird inlays.

This model features a 10-Top grade figured maple top, mahogany back and neck, and ziricote fingerboard, all of which undergo PRS’s proprietary wood-drying process to ensure a stable neck that is resistant to environmental changes and a body that maximizes string vibration. Furthermore, the semi-hollow construction with F-holes not only enhances its elegant looks, but also produces a rich, full-bodied tone.

Another key feature of this model is the latest TCI pickups, which use new American-made alnico magnets and updated manufacturing processes to produce a more articulate, musical sound than ever before. The two EQ mini-toggle switches function as high-pass filters; when engaged, they shelve the low frequencies and make the high frequencies more articulate and musical.

These EQ switches were originally developed for the Private Stock John McLaughlin model, released in 2023. John and I felt at the time that the sound they enabled played a vital and impressive role in that model. We’re thrilled to now be able to offer these switches in a wider range of models, not just the Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition.
