The Special Semi-Hollow features an HSH (humbucker-“single-humbucker”) pickup layout, featuring 58/15 LT treble and bass pickups and a narrowfield middle pickup. The narrowfield pickups suppress hum while delivering the bite characteristic of single-coil sounds and a clear, powerful sound that cuts through an ensemble. Combined with the 5-

way blade switch and a mini toggle switch for coil splitting the 58/15 LT, you can create 12 versatile sound variations to suit any genre. You can also enjoy a wide variety of sound variations by turning down the tone control for a thick, sweet sound or opening it for a sparkling sound.

Other specifications include a maple top, mahogany back, 22-fret, 25-inch scale mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, Phase III locking tuners, and a PRS-designed Gen III tremolo unit. The semi-hollow body design with f-holes minimizes the volume difference between humbuckers and single-coil pickups, while adding a pleasant sense of airiness and depth to the guitar’s tone.

And in 2024, PRS Guitars will update the tuning pegs used on many Core models to further improve sound quality. The new wing button, designed with a bird inlay motif at the 12th fret, is lighter than the previous metal peg button and reduces string vibration loss, producing longer sustain and a more musical sound.
