The SG Custom features specifications that inherit the custom design such as triple pickups, multiple bindings, split diamond inlays, and gold parts, as well as a vivid white finish. It has been used by legendary guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, and Tony Iommi. 1963 was the last year that the name Les Paul was written on the truss rod cover, and the first year that the Maestro Vibrola specification was released.

Gibson Custom Shop has succeeded in reproducing the long Maestro version adopted from 1963 with the specifications of the top model such as a solid mahogany body, ebony fingerboard, and custom backer pickup.
