Duesenberg DCB-NB Caribou unique shape (Narvik Blue)
Description
Duesenberg is a guitar brand launched in 1986 by German guitar designer Dieter Gelsdorf.
Based on the jazz guitars designed in Germany in the 1950s, they continue to manufacture gorgeous, beautiful, and functional guitars.
While incorporating the Art Deco design seen in guitars such as D’Angelico, the meticulously designed guitars exude a sense of luxury.
And above all, the superb tone produced by the original design pickup continues to fascinate various guitarists, and is highly regarded not only in Germany but also around the world, and of course in Japan. The guitar
that has arrived this time is the Caribou, which has a unique design among Duesenberg’s lineup and has certainly gained support! Although
it has a sound hole, a solid body with a chambered structure is more appropriate than a semi-hollow one.
The top and back are not arched, and the shape is simple and easy to hold.
The original parts such as PG and tremolo and the design of the Three Steps Ahead give it a sense of luxury and presence, and it has an atmosphere unique to Duesenberg.
The body material is alder, and the strong maple neck and rosewood fingerboard are used. Because it is simple, the sound tendency is easy to understand and sound making is relatively easy.
The air feeling is modest, and the sound output is solid compared to Starplayer.
The highs are output sufficiently and the response is fast, so it seems that it can be used in a very wide range of scenes.
The pickups are also distinctive, with a humbucker-sized P-90 type at the front and a humbucker at the rear.
Both are original pickups, and the output is not too high or too low, making it suitable for a wide range of genres.
Rather than the sound that you would imagine with a P-90, where the mids are thick and noticeable, it has an exquisite tone that is clear and sparkling yet has a proper mid-range.
It even feels delicate, and although it has a fairly thick tone, it outputs a good sound that is ideal for cutting, etc.
On the other hand, the humbucker has a solid thickness and rich low mids, so it is also suitable for hard music.
So, when I tried playing it to see what kind of sound it would sound like in the center position, it was a very unique and sparkling sound. It may be close to the half tone of the ST type.
The rear pickup is tapped in the center position, and the volume balance of each position is also good.
It has good sound and versatility that can be used in various genres.
Other parts are also original designs, and the control parts are mounted on the pickguard with the same Three Steps Ahead design as the head.
The Bigsby-like tremolo is also a unique design, and the looks are simply gorgeous and very cool.
The strap pin is a Schaller type compatible from the beginning, so it is a specification that will please those who love lock pins.
Although it is a guitar with a unique personality, it is actually a guitar with a wide range of pockets that will suit many guitarists.
It has a beautiful look, so it will definitely be cool if you master it!
