is a guitarist whose work is based on the iconic Olympic White Mustang, a signature model of his career. The CHAR MUSTANG is a completely new and innovative Mustang, embodied in Char ‘s unique ideas

. This model is MADE IN JAPAN, making it accessible to a wider audience.

Fender first released the Mustang in 1964.

That same year, Tokyo hosted the first Olympic Games in Japan, marking the beginning of Char’s guitar career.

More than 50 years later, Tokyo has been selected to host the 2020 Olympics.

Inspired by this, a project was launched to realize Char’s vision of creating a new Mustang guitar, made in Japan, with Olympic-inspired colors and a return to the Mustang’s original “student model” concept, making it accessible even to beginners. The model’s specifications were based on the concept of a “MUSTANG with Stratocaster functionality.”

A newly developed synchronized tremolo bridge was developed to match the Mustang’s thinner body,

allowing for Stratocaster-style arm movements while retaining the Mustang’s distinctive playability and ease of handling.

At Char’s request, the back panel was purposefully eliminated to create a simpler design.

Furthermore, a three-position toggle switch was added for more intuitive pickup operation. The control knob was repositioned closer to the strings for a more Stratocaster-like feel when adjusting the volume, and the pickguard also features an original shape exclusive to the CHAR Mustang.

Regarding the sound of the new CHAR MUSTANG, which has seen various improvements made, Char praised the clear sound image in the bass position, saying that the 5th and 6th strings in particular “sound better now.”
